I was sitting in an Internet cafe in Cartagena, Colombia, when I picked up an email from my agent telling me we sold foreign rights in Germany! Ullstein bought them in a two book deal. I managed to keep my composure, which was required, as the man next to me was busily chattering into his own computer on a skype hook up to…Germany! My German husband later told me that the man appeared to be conducting his business from the internet cafe…hmm. One wonders what type of business?

Two weeks later I was sitting in a cab headed to the airport-this travel thing appears to be constant with me- when my agent called and reported that we’re “Running” in Italy! Piemme bought the rights. My Italian-American father thanks you!
